Thai Nguyen

Thai Nguyen brings a wealth of experience, talent and knowledge to St. James from his many years of coaching and playing. He has been a resident of the Northern Virginia area for 30 years, playing competitive volleyball for more than 25 years in USAV, grass, beach, and indoor tournaments. Thai’s passion for volleyball led him to coach various recreational teams over the years. In 2015, he expanded his coaching experience by working with youth through the McLean Youth Volleyball organization and advanced club travel in 2016. His coaching style focuses on “doing it correctly”.

In 2019, his third year of coaching club, he took the 12U team to their first Junior Nationals appearance in Indianapolis, Indiana. The team finished top 9% in the nation and 2nd in the CHRVA region. In 2020, his 12U team qualified for Nationals (National Division), before the season concluded. This past year in 2021, his 12U team qualified for National in Las Vegas, NV and they finished 29th, top 8% in the nation. He is currently the head coach for Flint Hill High School’s Junior Varsity girls’ team. Thai is also CAP I certified.
