Bio

Drew Castleman has joined The St. James coaching staff. Drew is from Freehold, NJ and studied Molecular Biology at Purdue University. Growing up along the Jersey Shore, beach volleyball played an important role in how he learned the game. With high school volleyball not being offered at his school, Drew played four years of football, wrestling and two years of both baseball and golf. At 18 he began coaching for Warren Sixpack out of central NJ. For two years he worked as an assistant coach for the club under Brennon Dyer (NJIT Men’s Assistant Coach) and Pedro Trevino (NJIT Women’s Head Coach). After working alongside multiple coaches and coaching kids of all levels, genders, and age groups he took over as head coach for the 16’s boys team. Over the next three seasons he coached the team through their 16’s, 17’s and 18’s years. They received bids to nationals in their first two seasons. During their third season after winning the 18’s bracket at the Can-Am and finishing in 3rd at Florida Fest, their season was cut short due to COVID-19. Drew also head coached for a 15 regional girls team for one season.

While now living in Alexandria, Drew looked for a club that matched his passion and love for the game of volleyball. He looks forward to beginning his new chapter at The St. James and hopes to be able to share his knowledge of the game with everyone.
