Lisa Smith

A Division I athlete and coach for almost thirty years, Coach Lisa brings an enormous amount of wisdom and experience to the St. James. As a college player, she was conference Rookie of the Year, 4-time First Team All Conference, and 2-time Conference Player of the Year. She was the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Athlete of the Year and was inducted into their athletic Hall of Fame. As a coach, she has experience coaching across all U12-U18 ages and levels in high school, club, and private lesson settings. In addition, as a player, parent, and coach, she has experience in the recruiting process and all it entails to play at the next level. Coach Lisa is so excited to be coaching alongside Coach Thai with the St. James 18 Navy team this season! She is CAP I and IMPACT certified and attended multiple GMS and AOC coaching courses over the years. Her passion is to never stop learning and growing as a coach as the game she loves continues to evolve. Coach Lisa lives with her husband, Steve, three kids/volleyball players, Logan (Johnson & Wales University, 2021-2023), Madison (Brown University commit), & Derek (college commitment TBD), and two chocolate labs, Marty & Biff.
