Bio
Shayla Young, born in Honolulu, Hawaii later moved to California and Washington State before finally calling Virginia her home in 2017 when her father retired from the army. Shayla’s volleyball journey started in third grade where she played for The South County Youth Association (SYC) and further developed her skills as a setter at Thomas A. Edison High School. Her commitment was evident as she assumed the role of team captain in her sophomore year while demonstrating her leadership and dedication to her teammates. Additionally, she played soccer as a goalie for 3 years at Thomas A. Edison.
Shayla is a freshman at Liberty University and is majoring in Military Aeronautics. She is currently trying to get her private pilots license with aspirations to be a search and rescue pilot for the United States Coast Guard and eventually an Airline pilot for Delta. Shayla’s experiences have significantly improved her knowledge and love for the game and has provided her with a unique perspective on coaching. She is passionate about helping others and developing young athletes. Shayla is committed to fostering a positive and supportive team environment while emphasizing teamwork and skill. Beyond the court, Shayla is dedicated to helping players grow as individuals and achieve their fullest potential.
