Willem Hawthorne

Originally from Rhode Island, Coach Willem played for two years as a varsity OH and team captain at Barrington High School. He continued his volleyball career at James Madison University where transitioned to MB. Willem served on the executive board and was part of multiple NCVF top 15 teams as a starter. Throughout his time at JMU, Willem was also a referee at the NCAA Division I, Division III, and high school levels.

Willem moved to Northern Virginia this fall where he teaches at Annandale High School and is the head coach of the varsity boy’s volleyball team for the inaugural season of the sport in Fairfax County. Willem is focused on creating a culture of responsibility and accountability to create purpose-driven athletes, encourage resilience, and foster growth.
